About us.
Junto was born the way meaningful things often are: naturally. Two different paths — one of a lawyer drawn to the urgency of working with his hands, and the other of a designer with a deep passion for raw materials — crossed in a small workshop in Lisbon. They shared materials, tools, techniques, and ideas. A year later, Zé Maria and Bernardo decided to give their creative chemistry a name: JUNTO. Because that’s what it was all about — building something together.
Today, Junto is a contemporary woodworking studio, specializing in solid wood furniture. We are a team of six — still hands-on, still covered in sawdust — but driven by a clear ambition to leave our mark. We believe every piece should have soul, which is why we work with traditional techniques like Japanese joinery and hand-applied charring, using only certified woods — oak, walnut, olive, and others — always respecting the grain and origin.
Our aesthetic is refined, functional, and quietly expressive. We craft pieces that stand the test of time, built to last, both in structure and in presence. The process matters as much as the outcome: we listen closely, sketch by hand, invite clients into the workshop, and shape ideas together.
Junto works with a wide range of clients — from private collectors to leading architects, hospitality brands, and cultural institutions. Our pieces live in homes, restaurants, and public spaces, in Portugal and abroad. You’ll find our work at the Fundação Champalimaud in Lisbon, on the Atlantic coast in Comporta, in projects by international designers like Nicoline Beerkens and Alicia Murphy Design, and select spaces across the Netherlands, Italy, and the United States.
We don’t just sell furniture — we craft meaningful objects. From dining tables that become the heart of a home to singular commissions designed for emblematic spaces, every piece reflects our commitment to detail, material integrity, and the quiet beauty that only emerges when everything is in its right place.
At Junto, the future is built by hand, hand in hand.
